During this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic, The health and safety of our patients and our staff is our highest priority at Hygieacare.

Following the guidance from public health authorities to limit the spread of COVID-19 for maintaining a safe environment, We have implemented multiple precautionary measures in the Hygieacare Centers.

We are grateful to the healthcare professionals on the front lines who are fighting to contain the virus and help patients with COVID-19.

    Patient Instructions for HygiPrep will be provided to you when scheduling your prep and may include taking some gentle laxatives and going on a clear liquid diet on the day prior to your colonoscopy.

    Our trained Prep Tech will lead you to your private room where you will be seated on the sanitized basin. A sterile disposable nozzle will be introduced into the rectum. A gentle stream of warm water will flow into the bowel, loosening stool.

    Water continues to flow allowing you to comfortably and discreetly evacuate your colon. The Prep Tech will instruct you on completion of the procedure, which routinely takes less than an hour.

What to expect

For a consult or to schedule your prep at a HyGIeaCare Center near you.

Once your appointment has been scheduled, plan to arrive at your HyGIeaCare® Center15 minutes prior to your scheduled prep. Please register at the front desk and our trained Prep Tech will greet you and lead you through the procedure.

The HyGIeaCare System will have been stringently disinfected for your procedure.
You will be taken into a private room where your Prep Tech will introduce you to the HyGIeaCare System.
You will then partially disrobe in private, sit comfortably on the basin, cover yourself with a blanket and call your Prep Tech back into the room.
The Prep Tech will gently insert the lubricated nozzle into the rectum.
A gentle stream of temperature controlled, gravity-flow water will loosen stool and induce bowel movements, allowing you to comfortably evacuate your colon discreetly and odorlessly.
Your Prep Tech will determine when your colon has been fully cleaned at which time you will rinse, wipe, towel dry and dress.

Congestive heart failure, intestinal perforation, carcinoma of the rectum, fissures or fistula, severe hemorrhoids, abdominal hernia, renal insufficiency, recent colon or rectal surgery, recent abdominal surgery, first and last trimester of pregnancy, cirrhosis

 

Safety Features of the HyGIeaCare Prep System

  • Water flows through a sediment and UV filter.

Infection prevention is a high priority in HyGIeaCare Centers. Our centers implement and strictly follow the guidelines produced by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) titled “Guide to Infection Prevention in Outpatient Settings”. The guide covers recommendations for issues such as healthcare-associated infection surveillance and reporting as well as the proper cleaning and disinfection of both environmental surfaces and medical equipment. The water used in HyGIeaCare System is periodically tested to ensure it meets the EPA National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR) for drinking water.

The procedure is used to look for early signs of colorectal cancer and can help doctors diagnose unexplained changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, bleeding from the anus and weight loss.

How do I prepare for a HygiPrep?

How long does the HygiPrep take?

The time of the HygiPrep will vary for each patient. Our Prep Tech will complete our proprietary protocol in order to make sure that your bowel is adequately clean for colonoscopy. Routinely this process will be completed in less than one hour.

How do I know if I’m eligible to perform HygiPrep?

You should consult with your gastroenterologist to receive a prescription for your HygiPrep.

What to expect at a HyGIeaCare appointment?

A HygiPrep Tech will greet you and assist you in successfully completing the Prep. You will be able to comfortably evacuate your colon discreetly, in a quiet, modest and hygienic environment. Does my insurance cover the HygiPrep?

At this time medical insurance does not cover the cost of the HygiPrep. However you may apply your flexible savings account (FSA) or your health savings account (HSA).

Is the HygiPrep hygienic?

Yes, your health and safety is our major concern. Our mandatory protocol uses a multi-stage disinfection that is performed before and after every patient. Personal components are sterile and disposable.

Is it possible to undergo the HygiPrep during your menstrual cycle?

Yes, it is OK for patient's on their menstrual cycle to have the HygiPrep.

Is the HyGIeaCare Prep System cleared to market?

Yes. The HyGIeaCare Prep System is an FDA-cleared Class II RX Only Medical Device and the Indications for Use are: “when medically indicated, such as before radiological or endoscopic examination.”

Is the HyGIeaCare Prep System comfortable?

The Hygieacare Prep System is ergonomically designed for patient comfort.

When is payment due for the HyGIeaCare Prep?

Payment is to be made when you arrive at the HyGIeaCare Center for your scheduled Prep.

How do I cancel an appointment?

If it is necessary for you to cancel your scheduled appointment, we require that you call the office at least two (2) working days in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and early cancellation will give another person access to timely care. To cancel an appointment, please call the HyGIeaCare Center. You may leave a detailed message on the voice mail if you are unable to speak directly with a receptionist.

Do you ensure patient confidentiality?

Yes, by complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
